Spread His Joy

winter snowThou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

The Word of God provides such a powerful source of instruction, strength and encouragement to our lives. I am so blessed to be able to read its words and the different translations that illuminate the depths and richness of God’s words to us. The word joy appears in the Bible many times. I love that it appears as both a noun and a verb. It is something that we can both experience and do. “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation” appears in Habakkuk 3:18. It is a conscious word of action to joy or to rejoice in our Heavenly Father who provides us with countless blessings. We can choose to delight ourselves in God’s word, His goodness to us and for who He is in our lives. We can also experience His joy and spread it others. His joy is a source of strength. It provides healing to our souls and provides renewal when we need it most. It is a blessing that keeps on giving. We can spread His joy with our praises to God, kind words and acts that reflect His love. We want to share with the world even during this Christmas season of the blessing of His Joy.

A Gift for Jesus

Gifts are a central theme for Christmas. Many focus on what to give family and friends.  As we celebrate the birthday of our Savior, maybe it is appropriate to think about what to give Him.  Our gifts will have to be something from our heart and soul.  Will it be more of my time and attention?  Will I give my commitment to walk more closely with Him?  I could give Him more compassion and forgiveness for His children here and around the world.  Maybe I will give Him my words and speak only words of faith and love.  It may be that I will give Him more of my time reading and meditating on His Word.  It is something to contemplate….  What to give the Savior?

Whatever it is.. I will need to wrap it in my praise and my worship. His gift to me makes my life possible.  His gift to me blesses me beyond measure and I am so thankful.

For God so Loved the World

God’s love for us is powerful.  Because He loved the world He gave us the gift of His son, Jesus Christ.  This perfect gift is available to us and the billions of people who inhabit the earth.  He loves each of us regardless of the color of our skin, where we live or what language we speak.  He loves the people of this world.  We honor this gift by loving God and His Word.  We honor God by loving one another.  Each life, each soul has value.   This value is not based on wealth or lack of it. It is not based on achievements or sitting in places of position or power.   He loves us and we are commanded to love one another.  Demonstrating love where the darkness of poverty, hunger, violence, slavery and oppression exist brings light to the world.  Even in this age of human advancement, hatred and disregard for life are pervasive in the land.  We are called to love each individual as a member of the human family;   love, not hate; love, not fear.

Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.  John 13:34-35 MSG

walking feet

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Moving forward requires us to put one foot in front of another. Our first steps may be small ones but if we can achieve some consistency in walking with Lord as our lead, we will make progress forward. For some of us, we may be experiencing fear that may have us frozen in our current state. Others may have so much emotional baggage that we are weighted down and moving forward takes more energy than we can muster. Having a distorted self-image that is seen through the lens of self-doubt, low-self-esteem and lack of confidence in our talents and abilities can make the initial step seemingly impossible.

But I am so thankful for God’s mercy, His love and His grace. Our Heavenly Father, created us with everything we need to fulfill His Holy purpose for our lives. I have prayed that God would show me what He sees when He looks at me. This is the most powerful lens we can have. He sees the beauty, the talents, gifts and abilities that He has instilled in each of us. He also sees the areas where we may have fallen short but our God is faithful to forgive when we ask to be forgiven. He even sees areas in our lives where need to mature and develop in our walk with Him. Our journey continues when we put our trust in Him and stand on His word for guidance. He is faithful to hear our prayer and allow us to move forward along our path.

Our Trust is in the Lord

7 12 2015

snow path treesTrust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6

We can put our trust fully in the Lord.  Our life allows us to take one step at time, one day at a time to grow, nurture and build our faith.  Our Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for us that is full of hope.  We can continue on our path today fully trusting Him.

We put our trust in Him despite the happenings of today or tomorrow.  We put our trust in Him even when what we see before us today seems so distant from our prayers.  We may be in a place where our faith is small but take your small portion and water it with God’s promises in His Word.  Nurture your faith with the testimonies of others on the path.  Stay on the pathway of faith.   He knows all about our situation.  He is able to work all things together for our good.  Our trust is in Him.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  Hebrews 12:1

Our Thoughts, His Words

4 12 2015

2014-08-24 20.02.01May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

Our thought life is an important aspect of our walk with the Lord. The conscious and sometimes random thoughts that go through our minds throughout the day have a powerful influence on how we live. What we think and ultimately the words that we speak have both the power of life and death. We have heard it before but often say careless things about ourselves, our circumstances and others. As His children, we desire that our thoughts and our words should please our Heavenly Father, reflecting His will for our lives. Consider your thoughts and your words. If negativity and uncertainty are a continuous theme, remove them from your vocabulary. Not sure what to say, use His words. The Holy Bible is full of direction and assurances for His people concerning every aspect of our lives: relationships, healing, direction and God’s plans for us.

Think and speak life today!

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

In Charge

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.  Psalm 28:7

My prayer today is that you are in charge. Lord, You are in charge of my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Holy Spirit guide my every move.  I want to be centered in your will.   This is a safe, blessed place for me.  It keeps me moving toward my purpose. Thank you for the blessing of this day. I will honor it with my full trust in you. I will listen carefully for your leading. I am trusting in your word. With an open heart, I welcome you to take charge of my life today.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.  Psalm 119:105 NLT

The Work in Us

The work continues…

ipad 04152013 070And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6

As long as we are still on our life’s journey, we continue to be a work in progress. Each day is a chance to grow and mature in the way we think and feel. I am thankful for the journey and the Lord’s promise to continue His work in us. His Holy Spirit continues to reveal things in our hearts and minds that need to change and to mature. Places where we have stored up resentment or hard feelings come into the spotlight and we are compelled to respond. Jesus is asking us to release our hearts to Him and choose to respond with love, forgiveness and a higher path in Him. We may want to hesitate to let…

Anticipating Jesus

So the Word became human and made his home among us.

He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.

And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

 John 1:14 NLT

We have entered the Advent season, a time observed by Christians, in anticipation of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. For some this is a formal of time of prayer, fasting and devotion creating a spiritual connection during this Holiday season. For others it may not have much meaning at all and represents something that other people practice. I believe at some level all of us can prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas. We may not choose to use an Advent Calendar or observe the formal weeks of Advent devotion. But all of us can anticipate the celebration of the gift of Jesus Christ. He came so that we may have abundant life. His coming, His living and His gift at Calvary makes our salvation possible. We are so thankful for this gift and His unfailing love that blessed us at His birth and continues to bless us today. During this time leading up to Christmas, we can anticipate the celebration of His birth and turn our hearts and minds toward Him.

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.   We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.   John 1:4 MSG
