O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1

Our lives are filled with blessings that we can thank God for. While reading this morning, someone is illiterate, another has not seen a computer before and yet another is facing a life of absolute poverty that we can’t imagine. Growing up in my father’s church, the saints of God would often start testimony service by thanking God for their life, health and strength. These are things that we often take for granted, until they are in jeopardy. The act of breathing in and out without a thought is a blessing beyond measure. Just ask someone with asthma or emphysema. Keeping a point of the view that recognizes God’s faithfulness and mercy helps us to respect each blessing.

As blessed people, we are compelled to be thankful and to honor the blessing…

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.  I Chronicles 16:34

I give thanks unto the Lord.  The Lord has been so good to me.  I can thank Him for this time and place in my life. His tremendous grace and mercy allows me to experience this day, this week and this year.  Through peaks and valleys, He has been present in my life.  The gifts of His peace, love and joy surround my life and my circumstances.  He has provided peace and strength even during the unthinkable.  The Lord is good.  His mercy toward me leaves me speechless.  I am so thankful.    He has kept me moving forward when the pathway forward was unsure.  He empowers my journey.  I am thankful for each blessing.  He has kept me and today I give thanks.

Nurturing Love

Love is in need of Love Today…. Brother Stevie Wonder

Barcelona 2013 032The man answered, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27

God is Love. His love for us is perfect and gave us the Gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. We are called to love God and we are called to love His people. One scripture says we are to love the Lord God with all of our heart. It is a powerful command to love our Heavenly Father who created the universe and blesses the big and small things of our lives. He is all powerful and shows His love, mercy and compassion for us daily. He loves us and asks for us to love one another. It is not a casual commandment and requires our careful and deliberate response. We are asked to love one another; neighbor…

Love one Another

16 11 2015

Barcelona 2013 084Treat one another justly.
Love your neighbors.
Be compassionate with each other.
Don’t take advantage of widows, orphans, visitors, and the poor.
Don’t plot and scheme against one another-that’s evil. Zechariah 7:10

As toddlers, we begin to learn the lessons of living with others. Parents instruct us to “be nice” and “to share”. We later learn more complex terms like “love” and “compassion”. As adults, the lessons continue as we endeavor to live with others on a micro and macro level. Yet, as a people we struggle to get it right, even though the Bible is full of guidance about how to treat one another.
Love is God’s platform for His relationship with us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son”. Love is also His commandment to us in our approach to one another. Still, love, fair treatment, empathy and compassion are elusive in our society today. It must grieve God’s heart that we are so casual in how we treat one another. But each day is an opportunity to turn it around. We can adopt a higher level of commitment to love, to fairness and justice, to show compassion and to make sure the vulnerable are cared for. If we do this in love and concern for one another it will provide a salve to a hurting world.

This my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. John 15:12

Hold to God’s Hand

13 11 2015

DSCF0315For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. Isaiah 41:13

We can hold tight to the Lord’s hand.  It is a figurative description of our ability to stay in the Lord’s care despite anything we may be going through.  Our God is with us, even through the challenges of tough days and sad times.  God is able to surround us with His peace, His joy and His strength.  We can hold tight to God’s hand.  I am so thankful that even in the midst of uncertainty His unchanging hand is a strong reminder of His unfailing love for us.  He loves us and is able to provide the healing for the hurt, the mending of our faltering relationships, and the renewal of our spirits.  God, our Creator, can help us to get back on our feet and move in the right direction toward our purpose.  We can hold tight to God’s Hand.  His unfailing love can embrace us and give us exactly what we need to journey on.

Don’t Give Up

Never Give Up!

Terri's Wellspring's avatarTerri's Wellspring

DSC03705So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever. II Corinthians 4:16-18 MSG

Stay encouraged. Don’t give up. We can stay in faith even when things get hard and even we don’t understand. His Grace is unfolding before our eyes. We can focus on what our Heavenly Father is doing and the new life that is created daily in us. Things may be difficult and hard but we can look for His…

Got Wisdom?

10 11 2015

DSC03705If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. James 1:5-6

I need wisdom for my life. The big and small decisions of everyday living need an infusion of the Holy Spirit to keep me moving according to God’s will.  I need the Lord’s help with the who, what, when and where choices throughout the day.  I am thankful that the Lord will freely provide the direction and leading when we ask. God will point you toward the next step.  He will provide the right words.  He is faithful to keep you moving forward and keep you from falling.  I am so thankful for His wisdom which is high and above my thinking.  We thank God for the provision of wisdom today.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.   “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.  For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

The Plan

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

His plan for me is unfolding.  This time and this place are a part of my journey.  Its blessings and its challenges are connected within my walk of faith.  I will embrace all that God has planned for me. All things are working together for my good.  I will try to keep the vision vibrant and learn the lessons along the way.  I will seek to emerge from the challenges stronger, wiser and deeper in my faith.  I will give thanks for each step and give God praise for His mercy and grace.  God has a plan for me and I am thankful.
