Growing Strong

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

But they delight in the law of the Lord meditating on it day and night.

They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.

Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.   Psalm 1:1-3  NLT

A growing child needs certain things to develop and become physically strong and a mature adult. Good nutrition, proper rest and exercise are all a part of the recipe for growth and development.   As we mature in the Lord, we need similar components to help us to become strong in our walk with the Lord. We need to have a steady diet of the things of God that focus on His Word, a time of devotion and bible study. Stay in a nurturing environment with friends and church family that are committed to the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ. Continuing to pray to God, seeking His Holy Spirit to dwell within us gives us the guidance and power for our journey. Rest in Him with the faith and trust that should be fully in our Heavenly Father who loves His children. We can grow strong then stronger in the Lord, as we keep our focus and attention on Him.

Pray

I am so thankful that we can talk with our Heavenly Father at any point in time.  He is available to listen and

to guide our lives into His given purpose.

We should always pray.

A Strong Tower

4 11 2015

Barcelona 2013 032The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

I am so thankful that we serve a living God that is available to us to provide refuge and protection. The world we live in today seemingly has so many pitfalls and dangers that seek to destroy our lives – our families, our marriages, our hope and our peace. But when we turn to the Lord, He provides refuge. We can go to Him in prayer, meditate on His word and lift our voices in praise and find ourselves enveloped in His presence. In this place of protection, we can experience peace, renewed spirit and strength and receive direction for the next step. Whatever we are facing, we can turn to our Heavenly Father – The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Psalm 46:1-3

Fear Not

3 11 2015

DSC_0630For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  II Timothy 1:7

The Spirit of Fear is not of Him.  Fear is a strong emotion that we have experienced at one time or another.  It emanates from a perceived threat and changes our thinking, our behavior and even how our body works.  It can be a strong immobilizing factor if we don’t recognize its source.  This passage reminds us that it is not of God.  As His children, we are compelled to put our trust in the Lord, to have faith and to reject fear.  His promises to us are contrary to the fear that we may have concerning our safety, our health, our finances, our lives.  We must put our faith in God.

He gives us Power and Love. As His children, he provides power and love to overcome the challenges of daily living.  He gives us the strength to face whatever is ahead. His power is gives us the strength to stand tall in the face of adversity.  In the most difficult situations, we must continue to respond in love.  Even when uncertainty is on the rise, we can live strong and with love.  We must put our faith in God.

He gives us a Sound Mind.  We are thankful to God that we are able to keep sound thinking, sound decision making as He guides our steps.   Even when we are challenged on every side, we will discipline our thinking not to embrace fear that is not based on His Word.  We will keep our faith in God.  He is well able and our faith is in Him.

We are thanking God for His power and love and a sound mind.   We will not fear.  Our trust is in the Lord.

Our Trust is in the Lord

Nahum ScriptureTrust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6

God’s way is perfect.  All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.  II Samuel 22:31

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. Psalm 9:10

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2

Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7

But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” Psalm 31:14

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8

Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5

This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. Psalm 91:2

The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. Nahum 1:7

“You keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an
everlasting rock.”   Isaiah 26:3-4

Faith is the evidence of things not seen.  This calls us to imagine our situation in a blessed condition even when things may appear to be so far from our prayer.  We have to continue to say, act and move forward according to God’s promises – even when the bank balance is low, the doctors report is negative or other disappointments may come our way.  Even when we don’t understand, we have to have faith and trust that He is working out for our good. Our faithful Father is working on our behalf and He promises to be with us every step of the way.  Our Trust is in the Lord.

In Need of a Savior

27 10 2015

IMG_1179The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  John 10:10

We are all sinners in need of a Savior. Jesus is the Savior of our souls. He came to provide forgiveness and redemption for you and for me.  When I open my heart and mind, Jesus can enter my life.  I can welcome Him in to forgive my sins and to fill in the spiritual gaps in my living.  He can heal the broken places. He can make me whole. An open heart and invitation to welcome Him in can start a whole new journey.  It is a journey of faith that is filled with possibility.  It can change what was thought to be hopeless into a reality.  We are all in need of a Savior.  Welcome Him into your heart today.

Dear Jesus –

I am a sinner in need of a Savior.  I welcome you into my heart.  I thank you for dying for my sins. I ask for your forgiveness.  I will trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will.

 In your name,

Amen.

A New Song

26 10 2015

seedlingHe has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.  Many will see what he has done and be amazed.  They will put their trust in the Lord.  Psalm 40:3 NLT

During certain seasons of life, I keep a song tucked in my heart. It provides an energy and melody that keeps me moving during challenging times.  Songs that proclaim the goodness of the Lord or affirm our faith can provide the renewal that we need to keep moving forward.  I am thankful for the traditional and new hymns that remind us daily of God’s goodness.  These songs are a source of affirmation that we will make it through and that we are never alone.  Keep a song tucked in your heart; a song with the right words and melody to keep you motivated and moving.   Keep a praise on your lips that acknowledges the God that you serve.  Sing a new song today.
