Ready to Help

4 05 2020

God is a safe place to hide,
ready to help when we need him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
    courageous in seastorm and earthquake,
Before the rush and roar of oceans,
    the tremors that shift mountains.

Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us. Proverbs 46:1 – 3 Msg

I am thankful that God is always present in our lives, ready to help. Even when we can’t feel Him or see Him, He is here.  He knows all about what we are facing, the challenge of this day, this storm, this broken heart.  We don’t have to go through it alone.  He is here with us.  Reflecting on this singular blessing brings peace to my heart and mind.  We are not alone.  My Creator and the Creator of everything is walking with you and me. When we listen for His voice, he is leading the way through dangers seen and unseen.  He stands ready to provide the help that we need to make it to the next step.  I am thankful that he hears every whispered prayer requesting healing, deliverance, and provision. He is present and can help us through the storm.

God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of trouble. And so we need not fear even if the world blows up and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam; let the mountains tremble! Proverbs 46:1 – 3 TLB

The Road Ahead

30 04 2020

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?  Psalm 27:1

I am thankful that the Lord can guide us on the road ahead.  When so much uncertainty clouds our daily lives, we can be grateful that the Lord can illuminate our next steps.  God can lead and guide us on the when, the where what, and even the who, questions of the day.  When we ask for wisdom, He promises to provide it freely.  We can follow these guided steps knowing that the Creator has a plan for us to prosper and to be in good health. We can experience the challenges and detours, knowing that we are never alone and that all things are working together for our good.  So thankful that we can press on know that the Savior is with us now and the road ahead.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11

My Help

14 04 2020

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it. The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts! The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Psalms 46:1-7

Dear God –

My help comes from the Lord. You are my source of strength and power. I thank You God for all that You do for me. You sustain me with Your goodness and love. My confidence is in You to continue to provide for my needs. I thank You God for Your faithfulness to my life. Your promises never fail and Your love is everlasting. I give You honor and praise for Your many blessings. My help comes from the Lord.

Moving Forward

9 04 2020

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

God will show us the way forward.  A guide is always useful when you need directions.  We have all kinds of gadgets, tools, and mobile apps that can give us the travel directions from point A to point B.  We have GPS systems that interact with satellites that tell us exactly where we are on earth and how to get to where we need to go.  The technology is amazing and way beyond the atlas and paper maps that was our source for directions for centuries.

We will need a road map for what’s ahead. Life’s journey continues, and we will need a reliable, trustworthy source to keep us on the right track.   “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”  This familiar Psalm is a reminder and an assurance that the Word of God is the ultimate guidebook for our lives.  It gives us the “turn by turn” instructions for our steps’ moving forward. At times we may be perplexed about how to move ahead.  Seeking Him first in our situations, reading the Bible, sets the stage for knowing which way to go.  Our God is faithful to send the right guidance, the right provision at the right time to move onward in our journey. God will show us the way forward and we are thankful.

Heart Work

8 04 2020

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives  . Genesis 50:20

Our hearts are designed to be healthy full of peace and love. It is a large vital muscle within us that gets stronger as we extend our love and compassion to others. Acts of love circulate wellness throughout our being and emanate out to God’s people – using kind and encouraging words and extending genuine concern to those who are in need. We can keep our hearts healthy being careful not to let unforgiveness, jealousy and other blockages that create harm to our bodies and to the Body of Christ. Some of our life experiences seem to be designed to do irreparable harm – betrayal, abuse, disappointment. Thanks be to God that our hearts and experiences in the hands of the Savior can turn what the enemy planned for evil into good. Our passage today is from the familiar account of Joseph’s brothers who left him to die in a pit because of their jealousy against him. What an unthinkable act of betrayal. Joseph when encountering his brothers later did not seek vengeance but found forgiveness in his heart seeing the larger picture and how God turned this evil act into something good. I believe God is able to do this for each of us who may need the heart work of forgiveness and the healing of fresh wounds and scars. God is the ultimate heart surgeon, who can complete the work when we place our heart and our will in His hands.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.  Romans 8:28

Second Wind

7 04 2020

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31

Sometimes we need a second wind, a time of refreshing where we take a moment to catch our breath and focus on gaining strength for the next leg of our journey.  I am thankful that the Lord provides renewal when we need it. When we become weary and burdened by the circumstances that surround us, it’s a good time to pause and redirect our thoughts toward the source of our strength.  I needed a second wind yesterday.  I am grateful to God that when I turned my attention toward our Heavenly Father, renewal came to my heart and mind. When I focus on His goodness and His faithfulness, my heart fills with gratitude, and I know I can press on.  I am so thankful that the Lord will provide a second wind.

He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Psalm 23:3

3 04 2020

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9

We can live strong and with courage. Our strength and fortitude come from a deep knowing that we are not alone.  Our Creator, our Heavenly Father, is with us, around us, and in us, allowing us to stand strong.  Even in the midst of the unimaginable, we can rest on these truths to help us to endure what we encounter on life’s journey. We can let these words, “I am strong and courageous,” marinate in our hearts and minds.  These words can be a daily mantra and a source of encouragement during a season of struggle.  I am strong and courageous, for the Lord is with me.

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

Peace Comes

2 04 2020

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.  If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Peace comes when we focus on the Savior.  I am so thankful that we can pray about everything on our hearts and minds, things big and small, forces in and out of our control.  We can simply talk to God about it with our voices in our own words.  I am thankful that the Creator hears us and that prayer can nurture peace in our hearts.  The Holy Spirit can calm our fears and remind us of all that we have to be grateful for.  The gifts of life, health, and strength set a foundation for us to keep working toward God’s purpose for our lives.  In times of trouble, keeping our focus on the Savior is key to maintaining our peace.  I am so grateful that we can start each day in prayer with a heart of gratitude and experience his peace.

May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace.     Numbers 6:24-26

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

This season feels like a marathon.  A long journey that will test my strength and the ability to pace myself to reach the end. It is important to keep pressing forward each day.  We will need to balance the demands of the day while maintaining the stamina to keep moving forward.  Taking it one day at a time, we recognize that even on hard days, new mercies come in the morning.  I am thankful that I don’t have to do it alone.  The Lord is with me and hears my whispered prayers for strength and clarity about the next leg of this trip.  So, we keep pressing and moving forward. We are building our faith muscles and nurturing our confidence that this too shall pass and that we will reach our goal.  We will keep stretching the love in our hearts, reaching out to fellow travelers to make sure that they are nourished and strong. We keep pressing so that we can make it over the finish line together.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
