Our Trust is in the Lord

snow path treesTrust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6

We can put our trust fully in the Lord.  Our life allows us to take one step at time, one day at a time to grow, nurture and build our faith.  Our Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for us that is full of hope.  We can continue on our path today fully trusting Him.

We put our trust in Him despite the happenings of today or tomorrow.  We put our trust in Him even when what we see before us today seems so distant from our prayers.  We may be in a place where our faith is small but take your small portion and water it with God’s promises in His Word.  Nurture your faith with the testimonies of others on the path.  Stay on the pathway of faith.   He knows all about our situation.  He is able to work all things together for our good.  Our trust is in Him.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  Hebrews 12:1

Sometimes we get off track for achieving our life goals. We may have been making good progress on our commitment to our health, our work and our prayer life and a crisis or some other distraction arrives and we suddenly lose focus on what we were doing. It can easily happen when we live in a world where many are tethered to their smart phones and breaking news arrives on the bottom of our TV screens. It is easy to get off track. Others may be still on the same path to progress but weariness has set in. Gathering enough strength to keep moving forward seems too difficult. In either case, whether you are on a detour or if you are parked at a rest area, it is time to get moving on the right track. It is time to refocus on what the Lord has called us to do. We can unpack any distractions that keep us from returning to the right path. We need resiliency and stamina to run the race before us. If we need direction or strength, the Lord will provide. We can step out on faith today and get back on track.

I have on my running shoes.  It’s going to be a day for getting things done and moving forward.  I am thankful for a focused mind this morning.  I am thankful for the gift of the opportunity of today.  I am so grateful for all the detailed blessings of the day ahead; the conversations shared, the knowledge learned, the ideas that will bloom.  As we launch another day of living, we have a prepared heart and mind for running ahead.  We are moving forward and we are thankful.

His Wisdom

3 01 2015

winter clear roadIf any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  James 1:5

I need His wisdom every day.  He is able to guide my steps and to help me to make good decisions.  We can thank the Lord for His direction and His leading to keep us on the right path.  On our journey we can encounter detours, snares and traps that are designed to harm us but our God is able to keep us from falling.  What I think is imperfect and lacking but when I put my will in Jesus’ hands it is transformed into something vibrant and productive. He provides wisdom willingly and openly to those who will ask for it and receive it with and open heart.  We thank Him in advance for His goodness and His mercy toward us for guided steps and wisdom for the path ahead.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  Hebrews 12:1

New Ways for the New Year

30 12 2014

crocus snowBut that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,  and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:20-24

A new calendar year is nearly upon us. We have just a few days before we celebrate the arrival of a new year.  For many watch night services and parties will be the activities of choice to experience the close of one year and the entrance of another.  We can give thanks for all the blessings of the past and look forward with great anticipation of the future. This is hopefully a time of reflection and planning about next steps in the various aspects of our lives; our health, our work, our relationships with family and friends and our relationship with the Savior.  I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit can provide renewal to our heart, mind and soul to prepare for what’s next.  We want to be renewed for the coming year with our old ways left behind.  Jesus can provide a changed heart and a refreshed lens for new strategies and next steps for thriving in the New Year.  I want to thrive in the New Year.  It starts with creating a God-sized and God-inspired vision for what is possible.  With Jesus’ help we can shed old habits, hampering attitudes, and hindering procrastination.  We can lay aside weights and seek what the Lord would have us to do.  In the coming days, let’s ask the Father for His renewal to permeate our hearts and for His ways to become our ways for thriving in the year to come.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1 ESV
