Running Shoes

13 05 2015

walking feetTherefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1

I have on my running shoes.  It’s going to be a day for getting things done and moving forward.  I am thankful for a focused mind this morning.  I am thankful for the gift of the opportunity of today.  I am so grateful for all the detailed blessings of the day ahead; the conversations shared, the knowledge learned, the ideas that will bloom.  As we launch another day of living, we have a prepared heart and mind for running ahead.  We are moving forward and we are thankful.

It’s Ahead

12 05 2015

Rome Moving ForwardBrethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.  Philippians 3:13-15

My goal is ahead.  It is in front of me and not in what happened last year, last week or even yesterday.  My goal is in front.  I have to keep pressing. Even when I am tired, He is faithful to renew my strength.  When my vision becomes murky about what is important, He provides clarity.  When I am not sure about next steps, He is faithful to direct my path.  So I keep pressing. I will do my part to be faithful to His calling.  I will keep my heart encouraged and focused.  I will keep striving for the goal ahead.

So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it. Philippians 3:15-16 MSG

All That I Need

11 05 2015

walking encouragedThe LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;

he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love

will pursue me all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalms 23 NLT

Give it to Him

7 05 2015

2014-08-25 15.21.39Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. I Peter 5:7 NIV

God cares about every aspect of our lives.  He cares about our thoughts, our decisions, our hopes, dreams, our problems and our concerns. I love the scripture that says that “we can cast all our cares on Him for He cares for us”. It is a powerful assurance that no matter what we are facing, God cares and that we can cast, toss, or give our problems to our Heavenly Father. He cares about the big and little things of our lives. We may have concerns about health, finances, relationships or how a whole range of situations will be resolved. We can thank God for His love and that He knows all about it. We can demonstrate our faith and confidence in Him and turn it over to Him. When we give it to Him, He immerses His love, His power and His healing that transforms any situation. It may be a long-standing concern that has burdened our hearts for months or years but I challenge you today to give it to the Father. We can receive a new outlook through the lenses of His faith and promises concerning His children. We may be waiting on Him but He may be waiting on us to put our whole faith and trust in Him. Give it to Him today.

Give all your worries to Him because He cares for you. I Peter 5:7

Keep Going

6 05 2015

Rome Moving ForwardSo let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good.

At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.

Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance,

let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.

Galatians 6:9-10 MSG

Bless His Name

5 05 2015

2014-08-24 20.02.01Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. Psalm 100:4

Our God is worthy of our praise and our attention. We often live so busy. Our days move at a fast pace that may seem unstoppable. Taking time to recognize God for who He is in our lives. Small choices can sometimes make the difference. Start the day with prayer, listen to something inspirational in your car, and enter your office dedicating the day and the work of your hands to the Lord. Keep praises on your lips, play gospel music softly when you can. Stay in the attitude of prayer throughout the day. Bless HIS name.

Strength for Today

4 05 2015

walking feetFor I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

Today is a precious gift.  No matter how the day ends, we will never be able to relive or recapture the time available to us on this day.  I have a lot of things and maybe an unreasonable amount of tasks that I hope to accomplish today.  So I want to put first things first.  I am so thankful for the opportunity of today that I am asking God for wisdom, clarity of direction and strength to accomplish what is needed according to His plan for my life. I don’t want to squander time with distractions and toiling.  I am asking our faithful Father to provide laser focus on His will and His ways for me.  I will honor God in my thinking and my actions, with full confidence that He is able to activate the gifts in me to advance His plans for my life today.

On Purpose

1 05 2015

Yellow TulipsTeach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.  Psalm 90:12

During childhood, the days we have ahead seem as infinite as the leaves on a tall oak tree. Hopefully, this time is spent learning, developing and maturing into the individuals God crafted us to be. As we get older we begin to realize how God’s gift of another day is precious. For some of us it takes the experience of aging, illness or even the loss of a loved one to bring the value of our time on Earth into focus.

Our society is full of distraction that keeps us away from things that bring meaning to our lives. We may drift from one thing to another without real direction or authority of over our daily living. It takes a conscious effort on our part for us to live according to God’s individual purpose and calling. While it is easy to allow things that simply don’t matter to consume our time and resources, we can make the most of the opportunities God gives to us. We can live with a grateful heart. We can show love in our words and actions.   We can demonstrate forgiveness and mercy. We can honor the gift of each day living on purpose.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.

Let all that I am praise the Lord;

may I never forget the good things he does for me.

He forgives all my sins

and heals all my diseases.

He redeems me from death

and crowns me with love and tender mercies.

He fills my life with good things.

My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

What I Know

29 04 2015

IMG_1179Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6

At times my feelings and emotions run counter to what I know in my heart. This may happen to you too. I know that our God will provide for every need but I may feel a little anxious about one commitment or another. I know that my God is a healer but worry may set in with a negative doctor’s report. I know that God provides peace and calm in the midst of the storm when at times I want to scream at the winds. I have been working on getting better at aligning my emotions with what I know. I want my first response to be based on my knowledge of my Heavenly Father and His promises to His children. I am a child of the King. Peace, love and joy should be evident in my ways, my life and even my emotions. We can mature and deepen our trust in Him and align our “what we know” with what we feel.

In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. I Peter 1:5-9
