Love Never Fails

Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.  I Corinthians 13:4-7

At times both the difficult and the unexpected arise in our lives. Uncertainty about how to respond or to make it better when reaching out to those we love escapes us. We pray, seek God’s guidance about what to do and yet we are not sure that we are making any headway. Our response in love should reflect our Heavenly Father. God is Love. Love never fails. God never fails. Continuing to show love through patience, kindness, and unending faith and hope is reflective of the commitment God has shown us. We must continue in love, we must continue trusting God, our Father who never fails.

Good Plans

20 01 2016

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

The Creator has good plans for me. His plans are good and full of hope. God desires my life to be full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are qualities that I want to reign free and full in my life. This is the abundant life that comes from my relationship with the Savior. Walking closely with Him nurtures these gifts and empowers His plans for me. God has good plans for me.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

Bright Lights Shine

18 01 2016

mlk day

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. Philippians 2:14 – 16 (New Living Translation)

“This Little Light of Mine” is a timeless children’s favorite. The song has several familiar verses reminding us about the importance of letting our light shine. It is a vital message for the young and the old in today’s dark world. Just imagine if everyone were committed to being a light in their homes, work and relationships. What if we used our words to build people up, being a positive influence and eliminated complaining? Just as natural sunlight penetrates the darkness of night when the sunrises, it would transform the world we know.

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Focus on the Savior

15 01 2016

focus on Jesus

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

I am thankful that we can focus on the Savior. It is easy to spend time concentrating on the many problems that surround us.  We can spend wasted time thinking about what is wrong and what is not right but there is another way.  As believers we are called to focus on Jesus, our Savior.  We can elevate our hearts and minds and focus on Him.  When we meditate on Him, His love for us, His goodness and His power, peace comes.  It is a peace that defies understanding.  We can make a conscious decision to focus on Him every day and watch the level of peace grow in our lives.  We can choose to focus on Him today and the days to come.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.  Philippians 4:6-7

Keeping Me

Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.  Deuteronomy  28:6 NLT

I am so thankful that the Lord keeps us in His care. Our schedules may take us from points A to B, both short and long distances throughout the day. He is faithful to provide safety and provision along our journey.  Even if we experience challenges as we go, He gives us peace and sprinkles in joy as we try to make our way. I am so thankful for His presence in my life. I am thankful for His consistent, unfailing care for me.  He makes a way for me and keeps me moving ahead.

The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. Psalm 29:11

Press On

11 01 2016

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14Its Moving Day

It is time to move forward in what God is calling us to do. He has put it on your heart. He has given you the vision of the road ahead and it is moving day. You may have unpacked all of your things, expecting an extended stay where you are but it is time to move onward. He is calling us to move forward in our purpose. We can’t wallow in procrastination. We should not be swept up in the emotion of past disappointment and the spirit of fear is not of God. It is time to move forward. You may have wanted a full itinerary of the journey but we are required to step out on faith. We are pressing onward in wisdom and listening for His leading. He is careful to direct our path to make the next steps forward.

Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:5-6 Msg.

Praise in the Middle

8 01 2016

sunrise right

I will praise the Lord at all times.

I will constantly speak his praises.

I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart.

Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 34:1-3

Our God is Great and well-deserving of our continuous praise. I find my best days are when I start and finish the day with the Lord’s goodness on my heart and mind. With a song in my heart about His faithfulness, His greatness and His love for me, it is difficult to let discouragement in my day. Some days may be more difficult than others but when we surround ourselves with His word, His praises on our lips, His songs of praise, He is faithful to encourage our hearts. This is true even in the middle of great challenges. He is faithful to deliver us of fear and to provide the peace we need for blessed living. Bless His Holy Name.

With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever, Psalm 86:12
