Kindness

22 07 2016

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.  Jeremiah 31:3

Rome Moving ForwardThe hustle and bustle of my day is usually full of interactions with people who come from all walks of life. Sometimes we encounter people who may be hard to understand or difficult to get along with. Our first response may be to shorten the interaction because it is uncomfortable or it may be that we just don’t want to be bothered. But as believers we are called to represent Christ and to consider what Jesus would do in that situation. So many people are stretched in their finances, in their emotions and just stressed out. You hear it in their voices, see it in their faces and we see it on the news where people just mentally snap and do the unthinkable. I believe we are compelled to show God’s love in the midst of it all. We should be motivated to be caring and kind in our interactions with one another. The cost is usually free, it may take a little bit more time but a little kindness can go a long way toward making a difference.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!  Galatians 5:22-24 NLT

The Best Way

getting along

But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.  If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

I Corinthians 12:31 – 13:7

Confident Hope

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

The Lord is my source of hope.

His plan for me is full of hope as I trust in Him.

I can trust Him with my whole life.

Every concern….

Even in the bright and dark places,

I can put my whole life in His loving hands.

He can transform the struggle into strength

He can transform the worry into peace

In Him, my life becomes beautiful

The Lord is my source of hope.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

Nurturing Love

19 07 2016

The man answered, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27

God is Love. His love for us is perfect and gave us the Gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. We are called to love God and we are called to love His people. One scripture says we are to love the Lord God with all of our heart. It is a powerful command to love our Heavenly Father who created the universe and blesses the big and small things of our lives. He is all powerful and shows His love, mercy and compassion for us daily. He loves us and asks for us to love one another. It is not a casual commandment and requires our careful and deliberate response. We are asked to love one another; neighbor, family member, co-worker and even our enemies. It doesn’t matter about race, class, income, age or gender. It doesn’t matter what someone has done in the recent or distant past. We are called to love. It may be easy to respond, “I love everybody.” But the evidence of indifference and even hate is rampant in the world. We can hear it in the public discourse of minimizing one group over another. Or it may be just the quite whispers of idle conversation that is designed to tear someone down. Or extreme examples of murder and war against one human being against another exist in our communities and countries across the globe. So love is in need of love today. Nurturing love starts in my heart and mind, the space where I develop responses to God’s children. I have some work to do. Time and procrastination have allowed some hard places to develop. The widespread global need for love may feel overwhelming. But God is merciful and revealed my need for more love in my heart. I need to grow and cultivate more love for all of God’s children. I am thankful for the work that He is doing in my heart to nurture more love in my heart today.

Making a Way

5 07 2016

“I will go before you and level the mountains; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.” Isaiah 45:2

The Lord goes before us making our paths straight. Just meditating on this aspect of our walk of faith blesses my soul. He is not only directing our steps but he is going before us smoothing the way. We often don’t know the way forward but He puts the spotlight on next steps. The Holy Spirit is gently guiding, planting seeds in our heart to prepare us for what’s to come. Obstacles are no match for our Heavenly Father; He can move mountains. I am so thankful for this blessing. He is making a way for me.

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP

Beyond Measure

1 07 2016

Seek the Kingdom of above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

I am blessed beyond measure.  My life and living are sprinkled with God’s blessings.  Love, peace and joy surround me.  I enjoy health and wellness and I am free.  The Lord makes a way for me and allows me to experience the world in ways that I could not have imagined.

We can give thanks for Jesus who came to give us life and life more abundantly. We need an abundance of His peace, His love and His joy. We want it be so evident in our lives and overflowing to everyone who is in need of His touch in their lives.  As I enjoy His blessings, I will seek to spread His goodness to others.  Smiles and words of encouragement are free gifts that come from above through me to the people in my life.

I am blessed beyond measure.

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10
