Philippians 3_14

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

It is time to move forward in what God is calling us to do. He has put it on your heart. He has given you the vision of the road ahead and it is moving day. You may have unpacked all of your things, expecting an extended stay where you are but it is time to move onward. He is calling us to move forward in our purpose. We can’t wallow in procrastination. We should not be swept up in the emotion of past disappointment and the spirit of fear is not of God. It is time to move forward. You may have wanted a full itinerary of the journey but we are required to step out on faith. We are pressing onward in wisdom and listening for His leading. He…

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.  Ephesians 2:10 NLT

We were created to do good works.  Both you and I, and all of God’s children have a specific purpose to do things that are good and righteous.  This purpose is an assignment tailored by God for each of us that began at the beginning of time.  Just think….  Even before you were born a blueprint was in place for the masterpiece creation that is you.  Not just the color of your hair or the tone of your skin but the deep desire in your being to help others.  It is a gift and purpose from God that is ignited when we accept Christ in our lives.   You may have the capacity to lend a helping hand, to care…

Seeking His Face

10 11 2014

???????????????????????????????Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;  I Chronicles 16:10-12

We can make a conscious decision to seek the face of the Lord.   Our desire is to be close to Him and to dwell in the center of His will for our lives.  He is our Heavenly Father that loves us and orders our steps along our journey.  Seeking His presence through prayer and praise provides a vital connection with the author and finisher of our faith.  We seek to know His word that provides careful instruction and shares the powerful narrative for His love for us.  He loves us and we desire to be closer to Him.  Seeking Him through prayer, praise and reading His word draws us closer to our Savior.  Jesus is the one we love and He loves us.

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

Always Trusting

another sunriseAnd those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. Psalms 9:10

Our faith, our trust, our confidence is in God. Our trust is in Him for each promise for His children. We stand firm in faith for things that are yet to come. We have confidence for things that have yet to manifest themselves and represent the things that are not seen. Seemingly set-backs, things we don’t understand or other challenges may come but we remain undeterred. Our Heavenly Father is in control of everything even the details of my life. My faith is in Him today, now, tomorrow and into eternity. My hope remains in Him. He is able to provide for each need along my journey. I can fully trust in Him.

GOD’s a safe-house for the battered, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment you arrive, you relax; you’re never sorry you knocked. Psalms 9:9-10 MSG

Strong and Brave

6 11 2014

DSCF0778Be strong and •brave [courageous; resolute]. Be •sure [careful] to obey all the •teachings [law] my servant Moses •gave [commanded] you. If you •follow them exactly [do not turn from it to the right or to the left], you will be successful in everything you do. Joshua 1:7 EXB

Brave. Courageous. Resolute. Each of these words is a vivid attribute for Joshua to embrace as He faced leading God’s people after the death of Moses. Joshua was called to be strong and brave, disciplined and careful to follow God’s commandments. Success was promised if He was able to follow God’s leading on the path ahead. This was Joshua’s calling and at some level all of us are called to be both strong and courageous. We need to be strong, even when we are tempted to be weak or afraid. We may be called to step out on faith to do things that we could not have imagined. But when God is calling and leading, we must gather all the strength, we can muster to take the next step. Moving forward, we can be careful to listen for His voice and His direction. He promised to be with us each step of the way. We will be diligent and faithful to follow His Word that provides His wisdom and His will for our lives. With the Lord’s leading, we can be strong and brave.

Resiliency

5 11 2014

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9 ESV

The power to rebound after a set-back requires courage and faith.  We need this level of constitution in our hearts and souls for everyday living.  The unexpected in our lives will at times bring events that are designed to make us feel defeated and discouraged… but God.   When we experience a set-back we may be tempted to stay where we are to nurse our wounds but know this is the time to get-up.  The Lord has given us the tools of hope, faith, courage and determination to stand up and try again when we experience failure. This is a time to muster more strength, more courage and more faith for our relationships, our health, our ministry and our work.  We may have missed the mark last time but recognize the God in us is bigger than the challenges that we face.  We are His children and we are called to be strong and courageous.  God loves us and He helps us to learn, grow and mature into our purpose.  God is working every detail in our lives together for our good.  This promise and assurance gives us the stamina to get up and start again.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

Faithful and Just

4 11 2014

IMarch 2013 Picture IPhone 323f we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

Confession is good for the soul. Along our journey, we all have things that we need to confess and turn over to the Savior.  This is true if your walk with the Lord is on Day 1 or Day 10,000.  We have things that we can share with God about what we have done that is not consistent with His word.  We can be thankful that His Grace and Mercy allows us to recognize the sin and to confess it to Him.  We may think that our mental list of shortcomings is too much to give to the Savior but He is God.  He is our Heavenly Father.  He can take our confessed sin and provide forgiveness that provides healing and deliverance for our souls.  Our sin is a heavy burden that creates distance between us and our Savior.  We can give it to Him today.  Our passage is a reminder that if we confess our sins, He is willing, He is able and He is faithful to forgive us.  His forgiveness puts us in right relationship with Him to walk in a place of confidence and trust as His children.

Dear God –

Thank you for another day.  I confess that I have sinned.  I am sorry for my sins.  I ask for forgiveness for the things in my life that don’t reflect your will for me.  I accept Your Son Jesus in my heart today as my Lord and Savior.  My desire is to live for you and to follow your Word.  I am thankful for the blessing of salvation.  I love you Lord and I am thankful for this new day in You.

In Jesus Name.  Amen

A Satisfying Life

3 11 2014

Crew (48 of 86)The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.  John 10:10 (New Living Translation)

I often think about God and His gift of His Son to us. Jesus came that we might have an abundant life. When I think about God’s abundance, I imagine having more than enough. An overflowing supply of the fruits of the Holy Spirit: peace, joy, love, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control. This translation describes it as a rich and satisfying life. Another says that He came that we might have everything that we need.

What an indescribable blessing! This journey into abundance begins with accepting His Son and grows as we mature in our walk with Him. Wherever we are along the path, I believe there is always more available to us based on our walk with Him. As we pray, give praise, study His word and walk in His ways, I believe this satisfying life grows. I am so thankful for a risen Savior and that each of us can begin this journey when we open our hearts to Him.

Guide My Feet

31 10 2014

walking feetTrust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.   Proverbs 3:5-6 (New Living Translation)

Guide my feet, while I run this race – cause I don’t want to run this race in vain. On life’s journey we have to make many decisions. Each step of the way, we are compelled to ask God to direct our steps based on His will for our lives. This scripture and the words to this old spiritual are recognition of the importance of God’s leading in our lives. Even though we may be tempted or convinced to do what we feel is right in our hearts, if it is not aligned with God’s word or His direction, we must think again.  Yielded to His will, we are able to make Godly decisions that create the blessed life He intends for each of us.

Guide my feet, while I run this race – cause I don’t want to run this race in vain

Hold my hand, while I run this race – cause I don’t want to run this race in vain.

Heavy Load

30 10 2014

Lighthouse on the lakeCast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.  Psalm 55:22

Living in world full of people, we experience many things in life. As followers of Christ, we are always compelled to respond with our faith and trust in God.   No matter what the situation, its magnitude and size, our Heavenly Father is greater than anything we face. Some challenges arrive on our doorstep, as a heavy load that burdens our hearts and minds. The weight sometimes clouds our vision and moves us in the wrong direction. I believe heavy loads are God’s area of expertise to help us. We can cast our care on him for He loves and cares for us. The all knowing God is able to work things out for our good. Our Father also provides a God-given peace along the way. Whatever we face today we can turn over our problems, our cares and even our heavy loads to God and leave them in His capable and loving hands.

Follow My teachings and learn from Me. I am gentle and do not have pride. You will have rest for your souls. For My way of carrying a load is easy and My load is not heavy. Matthew 11:29-30
