Speak Life

27 07 2016

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.  Proverbs 18:21

What we say and think are powerful influences in our lives.  Every day we have to choose whether to say what we think or what God says about the situations in our lives.  Our thoughts are often limited by our human understanding but genuine revelation comes from God. My pastor has asked what the world would be like if God’s people were consistently and constantly speaking God’s words.  What an outpouring of love, concern,  peace and hope would be evident throughout the world.  Speak His words and speak life.

Look to Jesus

21 06 2016

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6-7

We can look to our Savior when we need help. When we need guidance, He can provide direction. When we need peace, we can focus on Him and calm will come. When we need rejuvenation, He can provide a renewed spirit. I am so thankful that He is always available to talk and to provide for our needs. We can honor His faithfulness to us through a dedicated life to His ways and His purpose for our living. His love for us deserves our faithful response with a grateful heart. We can look to Jesus when we need Him.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

I can meet the challenges of this day. Every leg of my journey is empowered by the Creator. God has made a way for me and my steps are fueled with His strength and incredible power. I can move forward with confidence that I am not alone. As I am focused on Him, my mind stays in peace and my heart is filled with love. I can meet the challenges of this day. Together with the Lord, We’ve got this.

Self-Control

24 05 2016

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22 – 23

Self-Control is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It is a gift that is available to God’s children. Self-control helps us to make consistent good decisions to help us reach our goals. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I can release procrastination, bad food choices, erratic exercise and other bad habits that keep me from being at my best. Nurturing self-control and discipline can keep me to move forward, strong and focused. I am thankful that the Holy Spirit dwells me and when I open my heart and mind love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control will flow.

A Clean Heart

23 05 2016

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.  Psalm 51:10

Life experience can leave a residue of emotions on your heart.  Hurt, disappointment, anger and fear can linger and create a filter for viewing your life moving forward.  It is a dangerous state of being to let negative emotions to build up in your heart.  I seek a clean heart; a clear place of heart and mind.  The acts of receiving and giving forgiveness can help us to achieve a clean heart.  I am thankful that we can ask God for forgiveness for our shortcomings.  He is faithful and just to forgive us, when we ask.  We can be diligent in forgiving others.  We can let the past go….   It is a liberating approach to living that will keep us focused on what is important.  I seek a clean heart; a place where peace and joy dwells in abundance.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”  John 14:1
