Fourth Quarter

4 10 2016

I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:14 NLT

We’ve entered the last quarter of the year. It’s a good time to review the “to do” list. I started this year with optimism and anticipation about goals, strategies and next steps. I am so thankful to God for my journey over the last several months. I am entering the home stretch of this year with more strength and first-hand knowledge that God is able. I have a deep knowing that God orders my steps and His leading keeps me in good stead.   The list still has unchecked items, so I am thankful for next few months. It’s time to focus and buckle down on what’s left of what God is calling me to do. It’s time to finish this year strong.

Stand Strong

16 09 2016

When the Lord empowers my stance, I can stand strong.

When God’s Word is my foundation, I am like rock that can not be moved.

When the Holy Spirit guides me, I am taking purposeful steps forward.

Tuned In

15 09 2016

Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.  Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me.   All day long I put my hope in you.        Psalm 25:4-5

I want to be tuned in to what God is saying. I want to hear clearly what is being spoken to me, to my heart and my mind. My ear is to the ground and in the air, listening for what is to come. It may not be a burning bush moment, but I believe God is speaking. The messages are pulling on my heart, challenging my mind, and pushing me out of my comfort zone. At moments when it is hard, I want to recoil and question who is really speaking but then I realize I am not alone. If I move forward in God’s leading, God is with me. God is empowering my steps with courage, guiding my words, and moving me into my purpose.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

First Light

4 08 2016

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8

another sunriseIn the early morning, before the city fully awakens there is blessed quietness. The sun has yet to rise and only the birds are celebrating that a new day has begun. It’s a perfect time to sit and meditate about God’s goodness. God is good and God is great. The gift of mercies is renewed with a new day. I can begin again with a refreshed mind and spirit. So many things happened yesterday and the days before but with first light I gain new perspective, new direction and new courage to forge ahead. I can take this quiet time of gratitude and praise into the rest of my day. I can carry this peace through the hustle and bustle that will come in later hours. I can maintain my joy and seek to spread it to others remembering the blessing of first light.

It’s Ahead

3 08 2016

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.  Philippians 3:13-15

My goal is ahead.  It is in front of me and not in what happened last year, last week or even yesterday.  My goal is in front.  I have to keep pressing. Even when I am tired, God is faithful to renew my strength.  When my vision becomes murky about what is important, God provides clarity.  When I am not sure about next steps, the Holy Spirit is faithful to direct my path.  So I keep pressing. I will do my part to be faithful to God’s calling.  I will keep my heart encouraged and focused.  I will keep striving for the goal ahead.

So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it. Philippians 3:15-16 MSG
