Stay Encouraged

17 11 2016

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9 ESV

Keeping my heart encouraged is a posture of faith. It is a point of looking forward with my full trust in the Lord.  The scenery around my current situation may look difficult with challenges on multiple fronts but I am not standing here alone.  The Lord, my Savior, is forever with me.  He provides a fortress of refuge around me and I am not alone.  I know the Lord is faithful to guide my steps when I listen for His leading.  I know that He is working the details of my life together for my good.  So my trust is in Him.  A deep knowing of His love for me and His desire for me to experience His goodness keeps my heart encouraged.  My trust is in the Lord.  I am encouraged.

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8 ESV

Fear Not

15 11 2016

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7

MLK standing tall in history

Even in times of great uncertainty my trust is in the Lord. I can have confidence in God’s love and concern for me. Fear may come to consume my thoughts but I must resist it on every hand. God has not given me the spirit of fear. God has given me the gifts of love and a sound mind. This is a mantra for meditation and focus when I do not know what is ahead. I can focus on the truths of God’s love. I can have faith in God’s capacity for providing healing in me and in my community. I can be assured by God’s desire for us to live in peace and to experience joy. As I choose each day not to fear, I am listening and open to the steps forward. I am looking for signs of how to nurture and spread God’s love. I am looking for ways for others to see the light of God’s love in me. My trust is in the Lord. I will fear not.

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. I John 4:18

Encouraged

26 10 2016

I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. Colossians 2:2

We can be encouraged today. No matter what we are facing, we can take confidence that the Lord sees our present condition. Jesus sees and He cares. He cares for you and for me. Meditating on this singular fact brings peace to my heart. Jesus cares for me. At times of difficulty, it is a mantra that you can repeat over and over again. Jesus care for me. His care comes with love and gifts of deliverance, healing and salvation when we give our lives to Him. We are not alone and He is always available to us. A submitted life to His ways brings peace and joy. We can be encouraged today, living a life in Him.

Always

25 10 2016

Always be full of joy in the Lord;

I say it again, rejoice!

Let everyone see that you are unselfish and considerate in all you do.

Remember that the Lord is coming soon.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.

If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing:

Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right.

Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others.

Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about.

Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and saw me doing,

and the God of peace will be with you.

Making a Way

20 10 2016

“I will go before you and level the mountains; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.” Isaiah 45:2

The Lord goes before us making our paths straight. Just meditating on this aspect of our wDSCF0176alk of faith blesses my soul. He is not only directing our steps but he is going before us smoothing the way. We often don’t know the way forward but He puts the spotlight on next steps. The Holy Spirit is gently guiding, planting seeds in our heart to prepare us for what’s to come. Obstacles are no match for our Heavenly Father; He can move mountains. I am so thankful for this blessing. He is making a way for me.

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP

Trusting

14 10 2016

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

I want to be rooted in a place of trusting God. My faith and trust should be evident at all times and in every place. Our senses of hearing and seeing sometimes can be sources of discouragement in times of trouble. At those times, we can stand in a place of trusting and have a deep knowing that God is control. We are trusting God for the big and small things of our lives. God is faithful to know the intimate details of our living. God’s love responds with gifts of peace, joy and direction even in the midst of turmoil. I can thank God for all that He continues do for me. I am trusting God for today and the days to come.

Encouraged Heart

5 10 2016

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knDSC00178owledge. Colossians 2:2 – 3

We want to live our lives with an encouraged heart. The challenges of daily living can chip away at our optimism and faith. Each day we should seek to replenish our faith and outlook by reflecting on the goodness of God. If we take a few moments each morning to reflect on God’s faithfulness, it is a powerful reminder that we are never alone in our struggle. God has been unfailing in Love and for meeting every need. We can give thanks for what God has done and look forward to God’s continued goodness in the day to come with an encouraged heart.
