Spreading His Peace

28 04 2015

IMG_0128Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.  Ephesians 4:2-3

Our relationships with one another are precious. Each interaction is an opportunity to build, nurture and create stronger bonds. Careful selection of our words and our actions are an acknowledgement of the love, respect and concern that we have for each other. Our busyness of everyday living may open the door to being too busy for the things that matter most. Extending our love and time with our family members, our loved ones and our sisters and brothers in Christ is essential for creating an atmosphere of peace and unity. Our passage today encourages us to make every effort to maintain unity, using peace as the strong glue that binds us together. Patience, gentleness, forgiveness and love are key ingredients required for our success. We need His peace to reign in our relationships, in our families and our communities. As we celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, let us spread His peace in our homes, our neighborhoods and our congregations showing the world that the Savior is born and lives inside of us.

How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony!
For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil
that was poured over Aaron’s head,
that ran down his beard
and onto the border of his robe.
Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon
that falls on the mountains of Zion.
And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing,
even life everlasting. Psalm 133:1-3

Imagine Me

27 04 2015

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4 Water wondering

In my life ahead, I imagine my life stronger, focused and thriving.  I am blessed today and I am thankful.  Tomorrow the Lord’s purpose for me compels me to reach higher, live higher and to move closer to Him.  I imagine my days full of His strength, surrounded by His peace, focused on His purpose for me.  I have to work while it is day and while the door is still open.  I will follow His leading.  Other pursuits serve as distractions and wastes precious time.  I imagine my day today, one good decision after another.  His Holy Spirit is faithful to guide when I am listening.  I am moving forward in my health, in the work of my hands and in my purpose.  One day at a time, I imagine a life pleasing to Him.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.  Romans 12:1-2 Message

We Give Thanks

24 04 2015

Tulip_-_floriade_canberraO give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;

For His lovingkindness is everlasting .

I Chronicles 16:34

We are blessed to experience the abundant blessings of our Heavenly Father. We praise Him for food, shelter and provision that help us to thrive. We are so grateful to God for His gifts of peace, love and joy, even when it is so evasive in the world around us. We are so thankful for His precious Holy Spirit that provides guidance and a very present connection with our divine Savior. We thank Him for His healing power that allows us to be healthy and provides restoration when it is needed. Our life journey provides the opportunity to grow, learn and to become closer to the Father and we are thankful. We give praise for the great God that He is: loving, caring and powerful for each of His children. I am thankful and give God praise for His goodness and His loving kindness that will last forever.

The Path Ahead

23 04 2015

DSCF0176Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:6

It takes courage to imagine your life differently. I believe doing some things routinely over an extended amount of time creates well-worn furrows in our life journey. Sometimes the grooves are so deep and well-traveled we find it hard to cut another path. This is true even though you know it is time for change. I am thankful for God’s faithfulness to us that He loves us wherever we are and meets us there and creates the opportunity for moving forward. The Holy Spirit provides gentle whispers of His true desire for our lives of peace, health and joy. God desires for us to be in close relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We thank God for His leading, His provision of strength, His provision of courage to be open to what lies ahead. We are thankful for His love for us that draws us closer to Him and His purpose for our lives. Our focus is to hear His voice and take one step at a time knowing that He is faithful to provide direction, protection and provision each step of the way.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6 NLT

Good Things

Crew (48 of 86)Let all that I am praise the Lord;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.

Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.

He forgives all my sins
    and heals all my diseases.

He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.

He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

Psalm 103:1-5

Ready, Set… GO!

20 04 2015

beach runner“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”  St. Luke 10:2

Some of us may be waiting for the sound of a starting gun to begin working toward our purpose. We may be waiting for the right time, the right money, the right dream job and as a result we entered into a phase of perpetual waiting. We may be waiting for a booming voice from the Father, when we hear whispers of what we should do, with tugs on our hearts and our abilities to move forward. We may be waiting for something special to happen but the starting gun went off again when we woke up this morning. Our challenge is to start walking, running or sprinting toward our purpose this morning. Not sure what that is, start with the things you have been meaning to do. Get organized to see, hear and receive direction. Pray and meditate on God’s word. Spend dedicated quiet time with Him. Listen… The Lord promises to provide both wisdom and direction when we ask for it.

The harvest is indeed plentiful but the laborers are few.  As people of God, we are called to support experiences where those who are hurting, lost, oppressed in very dark places can see Jesus more clearly. If we lift Him up in our calling, our behavior, in our faces, people will be drawn unto Him.  So ask the Lord this morning for direction, clarity and courage and GO!

I can stand strong today.

I know that the Lord is my Savior.

He is the strength in my stance.

He is the peace in my mind.

The faith in my heart gives me confidence.

 I am not alone.  I am well-able.

No matter what arises on the path ahead, I am not consumed.

I am a vessel full of His power.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;  II Corinthians 4:5-7

We Have Treasure from the Lord

16 04 2015

DSC03513We now have this light shining in our hearts,

but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.

This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed.

We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.

We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God.

We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.

II Corinthians 4:7-9  NLT

I Give You Thanks

15 04 2015

Barcelona 2013 032I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods. I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.

Every king in all the earth will thank you, Lord, for all of them will hear your words. Yes, they will sing about the Lord’s ways, for the glory of the Lord is very great. Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud.

Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.

Don’t abandon me, for you made me. Psalm 138 NLT

First

March 2013 Picture IPhone 323Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT

Putting our Heavenly Father first is the key to a blessed life. Making God our first priority in our daily living – His Word, His teachings and His ways – is the compass we need each day. His way is higher ground that will keep us from things that don’t reflect His righteousness or His plan or purpose for our lives. Serving God and His Kingdom is our first priority. Pursuing Him and His will first, organizes our decisions to align with the wonderful journey He has planned for us. Putting Him first is a pathway for receiving everything that we need. We need His peace, His direction and His righteousness to abide in our hearts as we put Him first.

“So don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to. Matthew 6:32-33 TLB
