The Master Weaver

1 04 2011

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God—those whom He has called according to His plan.    Romans 8:28

Life is often a series of varied experiences that with a naked eye it would be hard to believe that one thing contributed to the other.  I am sure that many of us go through some things in life and wonder how could this possibly be a part of His plan for me.  And it may be true that some things are not His perfect will for our lives. We may have made some choices not based on His word and some hard lessons may need to be learned.  Or maybe someone else’s poor decisions may have negatively impacted our lives.  Despite all the things that we experience, once our situations are given to God, He is able to take the remnants of all of our experiences and weave them together for our good.   This blessing from God I liken to a beautiful quilt that is composed of the shapes of our experiences.  The individual shapes are colored with a spectrum of our joys and our pains.   Standing alone an individual shape may be incredibly undesirable and ugly but in God’s hands woven with His grace and His mercy, stitched with His love, His peace and His joy it becomes a part of the beautiful fabric of our lives in Him.

Leave it with Him

31 03 2011

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.    I Peter 5:7   (Amplified)

Sometimes I feel like a “bag lady” commuting to and from work.  I tend to carry arm loads of heavy bags full of projects that need to be completed.    And despite my intentions, I rarely accomplish what I had hoped by carrying this load around in the first place.  I am clearly carrying around too much stuff.

Spiritually, I have been guilty of the same habit.  I have carried concerns in my heart and mind hoping that my worry will help to address it somehow.   This passage is another reminder of God’s love and concern for us when we trust Him.   What a blessing that God loves us and cares about everything concerning us.  He is more than able to carry the load, when we leave it with Him.

A New Way of Living

29 03 2011

Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence. II Corinthians 5:17

Seeing our lives differently during difficult circumstances can be a hard task. Our vision of our lives through our own personal lenses can create a picture that is not based on God’s love and perfect will for us. Sometimes we are apt to accept the deceptive illusion that the enemy says about us. I am so thankful that accepting and walking with Christ has the power to transform our lives. We can accept a new vision of our lives based on the way God sees us. As our Creator, He is the only one that can reveal our purpose and the path to get there. When we take the step to accept Him as our Savior, He is faithful to forgive us and to give us a new way of living based on His word.

Be Strong and Courageous

25 03 2011

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.   Joshua 1:7

Sometimes I need strength and courage to approach the challenges ahead.  In this passage, Joshua is prepared to lead Israel after the death of Moses.  It sounds like a daunting assignment but God gives Joshua instruction in the first chapter to assure his success:

  1. Live fearlessly – Be Strong and Courageous
  2. Live right – Obey  God’s Word
  3. Live Focused  – Stay on the path God has created for you

HE promised to stay with us every step of the way.

Representing Him

24 03 2011

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.    Colossians 3:17

I am entering a new season where I want to set a new standard for myself and everything God assigns me to do.  I went through a season where I was so busy that I was unable to focus on any one thing.  As a result, I did not feel at my best.  But I am so thankful for a new start.  We can ask God to forgive us for past shortcomings and ask for wisdom and direction with moving forward.  My desire is that the fruit of my hands will reflect His righteousness, His love and His peace.  We are so thankful for a new day, a new opportunity to represent Him.

Speak Life

23 03 2011

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.  Proverbs 18:21

What we say and think are powerful influences in our lives.   Every day we have to choose whether to say what we think or what God says about the situations in our lives.   Our thoughts are often limited by our human understanding but genuine revelation comes from God.   My Pastor recently asked what the world would be like if God’s people were consistently and constantly speaking God’s words.  What an outpouring of love, concern, peace and hope would be evident throughout the world.  Speak His words and speak life.

A New Start

22 03 2011

Forget the things that happened in the past.  Do not keep on thinking about them.  I am about to do something new.  It is beginning to happen even now.   Don’t you see it coming?   I am going to make a way for you to go through the desert.   I will make streams of water in the dry and empty land.     Isaiah 43:18 -19

I am so thankful for the opportunity of a new start.  The change of a season, naturally or spiritually, gives us a chance to begin again.  We can shed the burdens of the past and begin to focus on our bright future in Him.   The Lord is making a way for us even now.   Thank you God for doing something new in our lives.

God is worthy of my praise

17 03 2011

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.    Psalm 34:1

I have so much to thank God for in my life. His goodness, His mercy and His love blesses my life in ways that I cannot imagine. How do I respond to such a great gift that I could not possibly pay for?  God is worthy of my praise with my words, my thoughts and my deeds. I seek to live a life of praise that honors Him in every way.

How we think about God

16 03 2011

I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.   Psalm 34:4    21st Century King James

I once heard someone say that how we think about God is often a defining factor for the happiness in our lives.  Some think about Him as a harsh ruler and yet others think of Him as a loving father.  And some spend a great deal of time trying not to think about Him at all.

Despite all of these approaches, He is yet God and He is available to those who are on the journey of seeking Him.  We may have so many questions about life, how we see ourselves and how we should live.   I love that we serve a God that is available and listening.   Wherever we are on the journey, he is faithful to meet us right where we are.   He will provide the answers as we approach Him in faith, listening for His Holy Spirit to guide us each step of the way.

He alone is my refuge

15 03 2011

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  This I declare about the Lord:  He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.      Psalm 91:1 -2   New Living Translation

I am so thankful that God provides a place of protection and refuge for His children.   What a blessing that we can find rest for our minds and our bodies, even in the time of trouble.   So many things may be seemingly swirling around us but we serve a God who provides a place of safety.  He is my God and my trust is in Him.
