Our Source of Victory

15 12 2011

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1 -2 NLT

Our God is our source of Victory! Whatever we are facing today – He promises to be with us as we put our trust in Him. Standing steady during adversity can be complicated but it is an opportunity for strengthening our faith muscles and testing our endurance. In the end, it will make us stronger. Continue to keep our mind on Him, thinking of His goodness, His grace and His mercy in our lives. Here, He promises to provide peace to them whose mind stays on Him. The passage today is a reminder about God’s greatness in our circumstances. He alone brings victory in our situations. What a blessing that we serve a faithful Father who brings Victory to our lives.

Excellent

14 12 2011

O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Psalm 8:1

Our God is Great!

When we think about our Father who is the creator of the earth, the oceans and the stars above, we know He is truly a great God! He created all of these things and still listens to our daily prayers. What a great God that He is able to sit High and look low to meet us in our circumstances. God is worthy of our honor and our praise! His name is excellent!

A Strong Tower

13 12 2011

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

I am so thankful that we serve a living God that is available to us to provide refuge and protection. The world we live in today seemingly has so many pitfalls and dangers that seek to destroy our lives – our families, our marriages, our hope and our peace. But when we turn to the Lord, He provides refuge. We can go to Him in prayer, meditate on His word and lift our voices in praise and find ourselves enveloped in His presence. There we can experience peace, renewed spirit and strength and receive direction for the next step. Whatever we are facing, we can turn to our Father – The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower.

His Thoughts

12 12 2011

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and My ways are not your ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:7-9

We serve a God who exceeds our earthly beings in every way. As our heavenly Father, He is all knowing. His thoughts are far above anything we can determine with our attempts to figure things out. This scripture is another reminder of the powerful God we serve. His thoughts and His ways far exceed anything that we can create on our own. It is a reminder that humble submission to His word is best and when we turn our ways from sin that He gives forgiveness freely. What a blessing that our God is faithful to us and that we can trust His direction, His leading and His Word.

The One Thing

9 12 2011

The Lord is my light and my salvation; he protects me from danger – whom shall I fear? When evil men come to destroy me they will stumble and fall! Yes, though a mighty army marches against me, my heart shall know no fear! I am confident God will save me.

The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in his Temple, living in his presence every day of my life, delighting in his incomparable perfections and glory. Psalm 27:1 – 4  (The Living Bible)

God’s Word is full of treasure. I enjoy reading different translations of His Word and how familiar passages are expressed in such beautiful ways. This scripture is familiar and renewed at the same time. I am thankful of the assurance that this Psalm brings. The Lord is indeed our protector. We can count His protection in the time of trouble. Like the writer, we are seeking one thing – to be able to live in His presence, meditating in His word and worshiping Him.

Count it All Joy

8 12 2011

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4

Many mornings we wake up not knowing what the day has in store for us. Some days bring challenges that make us wonder how we will make it through. Our troubles may impact our lives in many ways, health, finances, and relationships, just to name a few. The writer encourages us in this passage to “consider it an opportunity for great joy” another translation says to “count it all joy”. If you are like me, when trouble arrives at our doorstep, for many of us, our first response is something less than joy. It may look more like worry or concern. But what if we approached each problem knowing that God is on our side and that our Father was able to lead us and guide us and to provide for all of our needs. What if we knew at the beginning of the problem that the experience would strengthen our faith and that we would come out stronger in the process?  We are encouraged to approach our trials and troubles this way. It is a blessed life with joy that allows us to put our trust in Him.

Our Help

6 12 2011

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8

God provides strength and protection for His people. His mercy and love empowers us to continue even when we are tired and need a second wind. I’m so thankful to God that he provides for our needs. The passage today gives us encouragement that our Heavenly Father who made the Heaven and Earth is the same God who provides our help for today. What a blessing that God is with us and provides the strength that we need for this day and the days to come. Our help is in the name of the Lord!

The Promise is Near

5 12 2011

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.  Hebrews 10:36-36

We have entered another December, the last month of another year. It will be a blessing to see a new year. For some of us this year may have had its challenges on several fronts. Still others may have needs that we have prayed about and prayed again, again in anticipation that God will hear our prayer and change our situation. We can be assured that as His children that our Father has heard our prayer and knows all about it. We can also be assured that He is working all things together for our good. While we wait, our passage today reminds us to continue to trust the Lord and to show patient endurance. We should continue to do His will and not something that we have determined from our often flawed thinking. Then we will receive all that He has promised. Even as another year, comes to a close continue to trust the Lord and do His will – the promise is near.

Trusting HIM

2 12 2011

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7

We can put our trust in God. We are so thankful that God will never leave us and that He never changes. Our Faithful Father is a very present help in the time of trouble. He provides strength when we need it. The joy of the Lord is our strength. He provides protection against the attacks of the enemy. He is a shield in the time of a storm. We can safely put our trust in Him. Our God sees and He knows the concerns of our hearts but we are to cast our cares on Him for He cares of us. Whatever we are facing we can put our confidence in our Creator and Father. God will provide the strength and protection to make it through our circumstance with Joy. We will give Him the Honor and Praise at our Victory.

With Us Always

1 12 2011

“Teach them to do all the things I have told you. And I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”  Matthew 28:20

We are never alone. Despite the pervasive loneliness in our society today, as believers we can be assured that God is with us each day. Even though sometimes we may not be able to feel His presence, He is always there. As we are seeking to do His will, follow His word and to meet the challenges of the day, our Heavenly Father is with us. Even when we make mistakes and need His forgiveness, when we turn our hearts and prayers to Him in repentance, He is faithful to forgive us. What a priceless blessing that nothing can separate us from His love. No matter what we are facing God promises to be with us always.
