O Give Thanks

26 03 2013

O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;

For His lovingkindness is everlasting .

I Chronicles 16:34

DSC02667We are blessed to experience the abundant blessings of our Heavenly Father. We praise Him for food, shelter and provision that help us to thrive. We are so grateful to God for His gifts of peace, love and joy, even when it is so evasive in the world around us. We are so thankful for His precious Holy Spirit that provides guidance and a very present connection with our divine Savior. We thank Him for His healing power that allows us to be healthy and provides restoration when it is needed. Our life journey provides the opportunity to grow, learn and to become closer to the Father and we are thankful. We give praise for the great God that He is: loving, caring and powerful for each of His children. I am thankful and give God praise for His goodness and His loving kindness that will last forever.

Abide with Me

25 03 2013

DSC00198And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. I John 3:24

I read the words to this old hymn “Abide with Me” that is new to me. The words of the song describe a believer’s desire to abide with Lord; to stay in His presence throughout life’s challenges. The writer composed the words in 1847 but it has a timeless message about the Lord’s ability to stay with us even during troubling times. I believe it is a testament of the sustaining power of the Lord’s presence. If we abide, live or reside in the same place, with the Lord, it is a place of immeasurable blessing. I imagine the writer’s deep desire for God’s peace, His Love and His comfort to dwell inside of Him and His circumstance. Our passage today, reminds us of God’s ability to abide with us when we keep His commandments. It is our prayer for the Lord to abide with us and us with Him.

And friends, once that’s taken care of and we’re no longer accusing or condemning ourselves, we’re bold and free before God! We’re able to stretch our hands out and receive what we asked for because we’re doing what he said, doing what pleases him. Again, this is God’s command: to believe in his personally named Son, Jesus Christ. He told us to love each other, in line with the original command. As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave us. I John3:21-24 MSG

His Perfect Way

22 03 2013

As for God, His way is perfect. The Word of the Lord has stood the test. He is a covering for all who go to Him for a safe place. For Who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock except our God? Psalm 18:30-31

DSCF0176We can walk confidently where the Lord leads us. His leading provides firm footing for our steps. New and expanded territory may be ahead in the distance. We can walk steady with assurance that our God is faithful in each promise of safety, provision and to be with us each step of the way. Unwavering faith and trust in Him allows us to experience His peace and His joy along the journey. The unexpected may arise giving us a choice of fear or faith but His way for us is perfect. His leading for us is perfect. We can walk confidently and look forward to what lies ahead.

Strength Lessons

21 03 2013

Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.

Psalms 84:5-8

DSCF0547We want to be strengthened in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.   Each day is an opportunity to learn, to grow and to serve in our walk with Jesus, our Savior. Both adversity and celebration can bring lessons that we can embrace and tuck away in our souls for the next segment of our journey. Lessons of perseverance, tenacity and patience strengthen our walk and our endurance. Other lessons of gratitude, mercy and love help us to draw closer to our Heavenly Father. We may not readily grasp the lesson of the day or the season but our God is faithful to answer our prayer for understanding. We can ask for wisdom and seek understanding in order to learn the needed lessons to move forward. I believe God honors that prayer and will give us the insight for our growth as His children. He honors our desire to be stronger and closer to Him.

In This Time and This Place

20 03 2013

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Yellow TulipsOur experiences in life come one after another. Each is an opportunity to be fully present. An opportunity to use all of your senses – eyes, your ears, your sense of smell, your touch and your heart to absorb, what is happening around us right now. Not what has happened in the past or not even what tomorrow will bring but focus on the blessing of this moment – in this time and in this place. It is easier said than done with the hurried pace of our living. We can rush through the blessing of love and life or slow the pace of our minds down to realize that now is the perfect blessing before us. Even in the most difficult circumstance, we can be glad that we serve a God who is with us. Our Heavenly Father is so faithful, so caring and so loving to shield us and to undergird us even when we believe that our hearts will break during the circumstance of the day. The blessing of now may be disguised by difficulty but we are still here, we have faith in our Heavenly Father, we are still on the path and God is still leading. We can rejoice in that blessing alone.

Creator and Healer

19 03 2013

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases” Psalm 103:2-3

DSC04062Our God created us and can provide healing for our bodies. The human body is an amazing unit with different bodily systems that work together that allow us to live. It is a wondrous creation to see a heartbeat or to witness how our brains transmit messages to our limbs to move and walk. So many amazing functions leave us in awe when we consider their quality and ability. It is our God’s desire that we live in health. We thank God that He provides healing when our bodies experience disease or other ailments that cause them to work improperly. He does provide healing in response to believing prayer and we are so thankful. His healing touch can transform our bodies with restored health and we are thankful. Let us honor this precious gift acting as a good steward of the body that we have been given, healthy eating, active lifestyle with exercise and even proper sleep.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” III John 2

A Bulwark Never Failing

18 03 2013

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; Psalm 144:2a

DSC03998Our God is our fortress, a safe place of protection. An old familiar hymn describes Him as “a bulwark never failing.” He is our God who is a wall of safety and a shield for our lives. I am so thankful that He loves us and that we are surrounded by His power and His might. We can count on His unfailing love in each of our situations. He cares about us in ways we can’t imagine. We can experience His peace, His protection and His deliverance each day as we put our trust in Him. He is our strong tower in who we can put our full trust in forevermore.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Ephesians 3:20 NLT

Renewal Comes

26 02 2013

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 NLV

Solar Eclipse magicWe thank God for renewed mind and spirit today. Jesus can bring a fresh wind in our hearts and minds that give us a renewed sense of purpose and the energy to move in His direction. It comes with a refreshed mind and eyes that can see with a grateful heart of His goodness, His grace and His mercy. We are so thankful that God is our Heavenly Father that can turn our difficult situations into opportunities to grow and to expand and to become the individuals that He is calling us to be. We may be going through a situation that seems long and arduous but there is an end that will come. The hurt will soften and heal, the answer will become clear and God will provide the grace and mercy for you to be able to move forward. We thank God for being the source of renewal and revival in our lives.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 NLV

Steadfast

21 02 2013

So then, Christian brothers, because of all this, be strong. Do not allow anyone to change your mind. Always do your work well for the Lord. You know that whatever you do for Him will not be wasted. I Corinthians 15:58 NLV

DSCF0340The Lord gives each of us something to do. A specific assignment that calls on your gifts and experiences that makes you uniquely qualified to carry out the task. We may struggle with determining what that is and how to move forward with a calling to support His work. But we can have faith that if we seek Him for the answers, He is faithful to show us the way. Our passage today requires us to be steadfast or dutifully firm in the work of the Lord. If you look and listen with your heart even in the area around you, and the people that cross your path, there is plenty of opportunity for service. There are so many who are downcast in their spirit and in their soul. Be steadfast in your encouragement and in each thing that the Lord has your hands to do.  When we do His work, we can be assured that it will not be wasted and it will not be in vain.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable  always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. I Corinthians 15:58

Act II

20 02 2013

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

IMG_0701Watching a play production, the producers divide the story line into different “Acts” or segments. Each one may have its own unique stage setting, characters and theme for the story that is unfolding in front of the audience. We may go through similar phases in our lives, where each segment helps to advance our personal story to the next phase. As God’s children, we can be thankful along the way for our Father’s promises to us. First, we can be thankful that God does indeed have a plan. We are not a meaningless story line without purpose. We may not know how each individual phase in our lives fits all together but God knows and we can put our trust in Him. His plan and purpose come together into a beautiful story once we put our lives in His hands. I am also thankful for the cues that He provides that allows us to move to the next phase. It is a time of trusting, faith and courage and also anticipation of what the Lord has in store for us in the next Act.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Ephesians 3:20 NLT
