Have you never heard?

Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.

Open Doors

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”  Matthew 5:14-16

The world needs to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.  As people of faith, we have to remain vigilant and alert for any opportunity to provide encouragement, to share our faith and to lead someone to Christ. Darkness and sin are pervasive but we carry the light for the world through our relationship with Jesus Christ.  Being a consistent example of His transformative love sets the stage for us to reach out to others.  In our daily travels, the Lord provides open doors for us to make connections with other souls through a smile, a greeting or a shared conversation.  We can use these opportunities to be nice, be encouraging, to be a light for Him.  The witness of our living and our interactions with His people helps the world to see Him more clearly.  The world needs to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.  We can pray for the right words, the right action to maximize our interactions on behalf of our Heavenly Father.  He is faithful to lead and to guide.  Let’s share the Good News of hope, love and salvation each time we encounter an open door. 





Powerful Praise

Lifted hands

 

I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 34:1-3

 

 

 

The words of our mouth contain great power. We use our mouths all day long to say words to others, ourselves and even to God. What we say in each case is critical. Our words often reflect what we believe and the concerns of our heart. The conversation that goes on with me, myself, and God can make or break my day. I experienced this recently, where I made a conscious effort to praise God while I was working on each project. It was a busy day full of pressure and demands. But the Lord blessed me where I kept a flow of praises on my lips. “Lord, I thank you.” “Lord, I bless your name.” “You are great and greatly to be praised.” It was peaceful flow that allowed me to finish tasks and assignments with relative ease. I was so thankful for this blessing. This experience showed me the power that we have to choose praise instead of worry or strife. Praises on our lips can bring peace, contentment and joy even in the middle of confusion around us. Our praise is powerful.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us,
to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Bright Lights Shine

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. “This Little Light of Mine” is a timeless children’s favorite. The song has several familiar verses reminding us about the importance of letting our light shine. It is a vital message for the young and the old in today’s dark world. Just imagine if everyone were committed to being a light in their homes, work and relationships. What if we used our words to build people up, being a positive influence and eliminated complaining? Just as natural sunlight penetrates the darkness of night when the sunrises, it would transform the world we know.





On Course

I need a steady pace for my life that continues my path forward. Each day we want to make decisions that propel us closer to our purpose. It is so easy to succumb to procrastination, discouragement or weariness but they are heavy weights that we have to be careful to resist. Some of those feelings may have come to take up residence in our hearts and minds but it is a new morning and a new chance to renew our minds and our strength. With a thankful heart, we can seek Him for the what, how, who, when and where of our next steps. When we seek Him with a sincere heart, He is faithful to show us the path ahead. When we are committed to His will and His ways it makes the next steps clearer. It is time to seek Him. It is time to step out on faith. I am thankful for His leading that keeps us on course.

Bountiful Earth

Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. Genesis 1:29

Our Heavenly Father created the earth with a variety of foods that bring nourishment to our bodies. Fruits and vegetables come in a cornucopia of colors and flavors. Leafy green, sunlit yellow, oranges, blues, and fire red are all God’s creations for the bountiful earth. These precious foods offer life giving properties that fuel our bodies for healthy living and strong life. We can be thankful that we know now more than ever, that wise choices in what we eat can have long lasting effects on our bodies and health. The right foods can lead us into health and healing. We are a nation that consumes too much of things that don’t bring health. Our trend in eating has brought about waves of heart disease, cancer and obesity that is wreaking havoc on our lives. Fatty and processed foods have us in a cycle of bad choices that we can break. I have found myself in the same rut but I am thankful that I am learning more about God’s foods – fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains. What if the answer to health and strong living is right in front of us – eating a plant centered diet that feeds our minds and bodies, right from God’s bountiful earth.

Give it to Him

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. I Peter 5:7 NIV

God cares about every aspect of our lives.  He cares about our thoughts, our decisions, our hopes, dreams, our problems and our concerns. I love the scripture that says that “we can cast all our cares on Him for He cares for us”. It is a powerful assurance that no matter what we are facing, God cares and that we can cast, toss, or give our problems to our Heavenly Father. He cares about the big and little things of our lives. We may have concerns about health, finances, relationships or how a whole range of situations will be resolved. We can thank God for His love and that He knows all about it. We can demonstrate our faith and confidence in Him and turn it over to Him. When we give it to Him, He immerses His love, His power and His healing that transforms any situation. It may be a long-standing concern that has burdened our hearts for months or years but I challenge you today to give it to the Father. We can receive a new outlook through the lenses of His faith and promises concerning His children. We may be waiting on Him but He may be waiting on us to put our whole faith and trust in Him. Give it to Him today.

Give all your worries to Him because He cares for you. I Peter 5:7

 





Spring Cometh

We crave for warmer days after a persistent hard winter. Record snow falls and low temperatures for weeks at a time can start to weigh on your heart after a while. The winter season is a lesson of perseverance and resiliency when the days are dark and frigid. We have to remind ourselves that winter is in fact a season and that spring indeed will come. Our God is faithful and with each new day and sun rise, we are approaching closer and closer to spring. We have to keep hope in our hearts even if a March snow storm may come to dampen our outlook. We experience both natural and spiritual winters in our lives, when we must stay in the faith and remember that this too shall pass. Warmer days, peace and joy are ahead. It is time of staying in faith and to look for the signs of spring. The promise of spring keeps us grounded in hope and allows us to start planning and anticipating the next season. Even at the darkest hour we are closer than we think if we are steadfast and don’t lose heart. Stay in faith and nurture hope. Spring cometh.

Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Romans 12:11-12MSG





Lifted Hands

Lifted hands

 

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. Psalms 63:3-4

With lifted hands, we bless the Lord’s name. We lift our hands in praise and honor for the God of our salvation. He has done marvelous things in our lives and we are thankful. We are grateful for His grace and His mercy that continues to cover us, even though we don’t deserve it. We are thankful to be the recipient of His love and His peace that abides in our hearts, minds and souls. For these gifts, we give the praise of our words and of lifted hands. Our hearts and our hands are extended to God in praise. We are so unworthy of His blessings, He provides healing, deliverance and salvation to those who seek Him. We are thankful. He makes a way for us when things seem impossible. With a grateful heart and with lifted hands, we give Him praise.





He is Able

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

 

We serve a God who created the earth and the heavens. He is powerful, loving and merciful. We are so thankful for the Gift of His Son Jesus Christ who allows us to be in relationship with Him. We may have prayers and petitions before the Lord. They may be needs and desires that we have no idea how they will be accomplished. Once we put our petitions before the Lord, we can have confidence that He has heard our cry and that He is working our prayers together for our good. You may be praying for things regarding healing, deliverance or salvation for those you love. You may be seeking transformation to take place in our hearts and minds so that we can reach our goals and to be used more of the Lord. Whatever you are seeking, our passage is a reminder that He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. What a blessing to see the work of His hands working in our lives. Better Health, better devotion and attention to our God –given assignments. He is well able do more than we can ask or think. His response will amaze us and we are thankful.

 

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Glory to God in the church!
