Nothing

16 11 2016

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?

Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?

(As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”)

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.

No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fear Not

15 11 2016

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7

MLK standing tall in history

Even in times of great uncertainty my trust is in the Lord. I can have confidence in God’s love and concern for me. Fear may come to consume my thoughts but I must resist it on every hand. God has not given me the spirit of fear. God has given me the gifts of love and a sound mind. This is a mantra for meditation and focus when I do not know what is ahead. I can focus on the truths of God’s love. I can have faith in God’s capacity for providing healing in me and in my community. I can be assured by God’s desire for us to live in peace and to experience joy. As I choose each day not to fear, I am listening and open to the steps forward. I am looking for signs of how to nurture and spread God’s love. I am looking for ways for others to see the light of God’s love in me. My trust is in the Lord. I will fear not.

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. I John 4:18

Refuge and Strength

Our refuge and strength…..

Terri's Wellspring's avatarTerri's Wellspring

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. Psalms 46:1 NLT

Our Savior provides a safe place in the time of trouble.  It is a place of peace, protection and rest for our hearts and minds.  The stress and pressure of the season can leave us feeling tired and weary.  He knows and He cares about His children.  During prayer and meditation we can experience respite for our busy minds and burdened souls.  The Lord is our refuge.  In His presence we are rejuvenated with His strength, infused with His peace and surrounded by His love.  We are so thankful for the gifts of refuge, respite and rejuvenation that we have in God.

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  This I declare about the Lord:  He alone is my refuge, my…

Love One Another

7 11 2016

Treat one another justly. Love your neighbors. Be compassionate with each other. Don’t take advantage of widows, orphans, visitors, and the poor. Don’t plot and scheme against one another-that’s evil. Zechariah 7:10

little tots

As toddlers, we begin to learn the lessons of living with others. Parents instruct us to “be nice” and “to share”. We later learn more complex terms like “love” and “compassion”. As adults, the lessons continue as we endeavor to live with others on a micro and macro level. Yet, as a people we struggle to get it right, even though the Bible is full of guidance about how to treat one another. Love is God’s platform for His relationship with us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son”. Love is also His commandment to us in our approach to one another. Still, love, fair treatment, empathy and compassion are elusive in our society today. It must grieve God’s heart that we are so casual in how we treat one another. But each day is an opportunity to turn it around. We can adopt a higher level of commitment to love, to fairness and justice, to show compassion and to make sure the vulnerable are cared for. If we do this in love and concern for one another it will provide a salve to a hurting world.

This my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. John 15:12
