Continue in Thanksgiving

1 12 2014

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Hebrews 13:15

Another holiday of Thanksgiving with all of the feasting with family and friends is behind us. While the holiday is officially over our expressions of thanks and gratitude to our Faithful Father should be a part of our daily living. His praises should continually be in our hearts and on our lips. We are a blessed people in countless ways to experience His Goodness, His mercy and His love. Every day we can tell the Lord how thankful we are for another day. Even when the days are difficult we can pray His word – Lord, I am thankful that by your stripes, I am healed. Lord, I am thankful that the plans you have for me are for good and not for evil. Lord, I am thankful that you said you would not give me more than I can bear. Lord, I am thankful that you would never leave me alone. We can give thanks in all things and His praises be a part of our everyday lives.  Let’s continue in Thanksgiving!

Taste and See

Thanksgiving is the starting bell for many for holiday eating. Some have already
made plans or are making planning for a great feast for Thanksgiving. This year
I have been thinking about how to seek more of God, the spiritual and the sacred during the Holiday season. So in between recipes, place settings and dessert I am thinking of how good the Lord has been to me.

“Taste and See that the Lord is good”. My walk with Jesus started and continues
today with experiences of learning to trust, building faith, deepening understanding,
forgiving others, walking in love and seeking God’s will over my own. It is ongoing
process but decades later, what a sweet journey. I’ve heard some of the older saints
describe the Lord as “He’s a Good Jesus”. This phrase always brings a smile to my
face. What a tremendous description for someone who has been there for me through
every situation.

Oh Taste and See that the Lord is good….

Great is His Mercy

Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:22-23

The Lord’s mercy is renewed each morning. We can start a new day with a fresh supply of mercy from our Heavenly Father.  I am so thankful for His mercy that allows me to experience His blessings even though I don’t deserve it.  I am so thankful for His grace that gives me unmerited access to be in relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  I thank and praise His name for His grace and His mercy that blanket my life in ways beyond my imagination. I am so humbled by His attention to my life.  We thank and praise Him for His mercy.  We bless His name for His grace.  The Lord is merciful, loving and kind and we are thankful.

Great is Your mercy towards me Your loving kindness towards me Your tender mercy, I see Day after day

Forever faithful towards Always providing for me Great is Your mercy towards me Great is Your grace

Blessings

2 06 2014

Sun RaysI will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord. Psalm 116:17

Blessings are all around us. We have so many reasons to express our gratitude to our Heavenly Father. We can thank Him for all that He does to meet our essential needs of life, health and strength, food and shelter. We can thank Him for the blessing of friends and family who bring so much love and friendship into our lives. We can thank Him for the tremendous blessings that extend beyond our needs and provide for the desires of our hearts. He blesses us with satisfying work of our hands and visions for higher heights in service to Him. We thank Him for the simple pleasures of the sunrise that start our days and the rain that feeds the earth. We are thankful that He meets us at our point of need, a revived spirit, a healed body a strengthened inner man focused on Him. We give thanks for all these blessings. As we consider each one, we can feel His love and concern for us. We can face a new day with praises on our lips and gratitude in our heart for all His many blessings to us. He is worthy of all honor and all praise.
My mouth is filled with GOD’s praise. Let everything living bless him, bless his holy name from now to eternity! Psalm 145:21

His Goodness

7 03 2014

Crew (48 of 86)Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:5-6

My heart is full this morning thinking about God’s goodness. Just thinking about God’s mercy and His unconditional love for me gives me such joy and a heart of gratitude. Since I started this journey in relationship with the Father through His son Jesus Christ, my life has been truly blessed. Even when I have fallen short of my best for Him, He has shown me mercy in ways that I could not imagine. At times, I thought I had “problems” but everything is relative. He has turned those problems into stepping stones of my faith. I am thankful.

I have a blessed life. My family is blessed and it is all due to His goodness and mercy toward me. Today, I want to dwell on His eternal blessings on my life and keep His joy in my heart and His praises on my lips.

Counting Blessings

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, Psalm 103:1-2 ESV

We have so much to be thankful for. Counting our blessings is one way to be mindful of God’s goodness to each of us. His grace, His unmerited favor and love encircle our lives that result in so many blessings. The powerful lens of gratitude is an opportunity to look at our situations with a new revelation on a daily basis. He is a great God and continues to make a way for us even in the darkest hour and most difficult situations. I remember during testimony service, the Saints would share their thanks for portions of health, life and strength, for having a mind to serve God and the gift of salvation and being filled with the Holy Ghost. The recitation was often repetitive but reflecting on it now, I realize its importance. We can thank God for His blessings each day. It is impossible to enumerate them all but taking the time each day to reflect on His goodness and giving the Lord praise strengthens our journey. Creating a gratitude journal is a wonderful way of capturing the Lord’s blessings. Writing daily at least three things that you are thankful for establishes a pattern of reflection and our response of gratitude to God for His goodness. He is good. He is worthy. And we are thankful. Bless His Holy Name.

O my soul, bless GOD. From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name!
O my soul, bless GOD, don’t forget a single blessing! Psalm 103:1-2 MSG

Shout to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with joy;
come before him with singing.
Know that the Lord is God.
He made us, and we belong to him;
we are his people, the sheep he tends.

Come into his city with songs of thanksgiving
and into his courtyards with songs of praise.
Thank him and praise his name.
The Lord is good. His love is forever,
and his loyalty goes on and on.  Psalm 100

I am giving thanks for this time and this place.  I am here because of the blessings of the Lord.  He has provided this journey for me and I am thankful.  I can rejoice with praises in my heart for He is God.  I know that the Lord is God.   He is our creator and knows our purpose.  He knows everything about us including the hair on our heads and even the tears that fall from our eyes.  He is God and we belong to Him.  We are His people.  I am His child.  He is God and in Him there is no lack.  He provides for His sheep, for every need and is able to even provide for the desires of our hearts.  We belong to Him.  He leads and guides us.  We can put our full trust in Him.  We can thank Him for His goodness.  Songs of praise and thanksgiving can fill our hearts and come forth through our lives.  He is good.  He is good and He is great.  His love for us never ends and endures forever.  We are thankful.
