Winter Warmth

31 01 2014

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:  I Thessalonians 3:12

This January was the coldest in recent memory.  It was a deep freeze that seemed to take up residence in most of the country for most of the month. I was thankful for the warmth of my home and the sun that has shined brightly through my windows for the last few days.  As we welcome February, we can be thankful for the blessings of a roof over our heads, the protection of our homes and the heat that keeps us warm.  We can give thanks to our Heavenly Father for giving us health, life and strength to weather snow, wind and ice.  He has provided for our needs and given us the opportunity to pray for those who are in need.  The winter months bring isolation for seniors, the disabled and many who are sick and unable to get out.  Even during these frigid days many were homeless or living in shelters.  Men, women, children and families are without a permanent place to call home.  It is a time for prayer, a time for gratefulness and a time to show love for those who need it. The warmth of God’s love can shine brightly through our smiles, our words and the work of our hands. However, we are able to help, whatever the Lord puts on our heart to do, we can move in faith and show the warmth of love to those who are in need.
