Goodness, Mercy and Unfailing Love

11 02 2016

The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord.

So Faithful

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.  Psalm 36:5

The Lord is so faithful to me. His promises are alive and present in my life.  I am so grateful that while I am so undeserving, His love for me surrounds my life.  The blessings of peace, joy and love are available to me.  Even in the midst of storms and tough situations, He is ever-present.  I am so thankful and blessed that I can walk with Him and I am never alone.  I can be confident that whatever I face today or tomorrow, He is with me.  I am never alone.  I am thankful for my relationship with the Savior.  Its available to me and to you.  Open your heart today to Him.  Welcome Him in.  Invite Him into every space in your life.  He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and the separation from Him, when we ask.  He is faithful to come into our hearts and to transform our lives into something beautiful.  It is not a promise of ease.  It is a promise of His presence in our lives, which makes everything better.  He is so faithful.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  I John 1:9

Focus on the Savior

15 01 2016

focus on Jesus

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

I am thankful that we can focus on the Savior. It is easy to spend time concentrating on the many problems that surround us.  We can spend wasted time thinking about what is wrong and what is not right but there is another way.  As believers we are called to focus on Jesus, our Savior.  We can elevate our hearts and minds and focus on Him.  When we meditate on Him, His love for us, His goodness and His power, peace comes.  It is a peace that defies understanding.  We can make a conscious decision to focus on Him every day and watch the level of peace grow in our lives.  We can choose to focus on Him today and the days to come.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.  Philippians 4:6-7

For All God Has Done

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!

Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.

Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing.

Then the God of peace will be with you.  Philippians 4:4-9

My heart is full of thanksgiving as this year comes to a close. God blessed us to survive and thrive during a full year.  The Lord was faithful to be with us.  He surrounded us with His presence that kept your hearts and minds even during the unthinkable.  He kept me. That thought alone leaves me so humbled and grateful.  He kept me from falling down and falling a part.  He kept me. His presence enveloped me and kept me standing.  I am thanking Him for what He has already done.  He has kept me and I am thankful.

Our Trust is in the Lord

7 12 2015

snow path treesTrust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6

We can put our trust fully in the Lord.  Our life allows us to take one step at time, one day at a time to grow, nurture and build our faith.  Our Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for us that is full of hope.  We can continue on our path today fully trusting Him.

We put our trust in Him despite the happenings of today or tomorrow.  We put our trust in Him even when what we see before us today seems so distant from our prayers.  We may be in a place where our faith is small but take your small portion and water it with God’s promises in His Word.  Nurture your faith with the testimonies of others on the path.  Stay on the pathway of faith.   He knows all about our situation.  He is able to work all things together for our good.  Our trust is in Him.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  Hebrews 12:1

Fear Not

3 11 2015

DSC_0630For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  II Timothy 1:7

The Spirit of Fear is not of Him.  Fear is a strong emotion that we have experienced at one time or another.  It emanates from a perceived threat and changes our thinking, our behavior and even how our body works.  It can be a strong immobilizing factor if we don’t recognize its source.  This passage reminds us that it is not of God.  As His children, we are compelled to put our trust in the Lord, to have faith and to reject fear.  His promises to us are contrary to the fear that we may have concerning our safety, our health, our finances, our lives.  We must put our faith in God.

He gives us Power and Love. As His children, he provides power and love to overcome the challenges of daily living.  He gives us the strength to face whatever is ahead. His power is gives us the strength to stand tall in the face of adversity.  In the most difficult situations, we must continue to respond in love.  Even when uncertainty is on the rise, we can live strong and with love.  We must put our faith in God.

He gives us a Sound Mind.  We are thankful to God that we are able to keep sound thinking, sound decision making as He guides our steps.   Even when we are challenged on every side, we will discipline our thinking not to embrace fear that is not based on His Word.  We will keep our faith in God.  He is well able and our faith is in Him.

We are thanking God for His power and love and a sound mind.   We will not fear.  Our trust is in the Lord.

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. Psalm 9:10

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2

Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7

Prayer Changes Me

29 09 2015

2014-08-24 20.02.01My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.  Psalm 5:3

A dedicated time of prayer and fasting brings change. For me, that change starts in me. My prayers of gratitude and praise help me to acknowledge who God is in my life. He is my provider. He is Peace. He is love. He is my healer. He is my Savior. Meditating on these truths brings solace and conjures strength even during the most difficult situation. I can start a prayer in a harried, hurried mode but when I enter a time of reflection and meditation of who the Lord is my countenance changes. When I begin to think about God’s power, mercy and grace, my issues pale in comparison. During prayer changes occur from weak to strong, wounded to healed, fearful to peace, downcast to uplifted. I am so thankful that we serve a living God that we can talk to and God can talk to us. With an open heart, we can approach the Lord and talk to Him. He is always listening. He is always available and I am thankful.

Always be joyful.  Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:16-18
