Turn North

5 05 2011

You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; turn to the north.   Deuteronomy  2:3 (New Living Translation)

For longer than I would like to remember, I have struggled with my weight.  Some know I desired to achieve a healthy weight without making the long term lifestyle changes needed to get there and stay there.  And maybe for others it may not be eating or exercise but some other part of their lives that keeps them circling the same ground but not making any progress. I heard this passage recently about the Israelites and the commandment that got them moving toward their true destiny after forty years of wandering.

I am so thankful that after what we consider an eternity, God is still available to get us on the right path.  I know that God desires for me to be healthy and that the Holy Spirit provides the tools of self-discipline if I am open to His leading. Whatever we may be struggling with today, it is time to seek God’s direction about which way to turn.  He can make the difference in helping us to move toward our purpose. It is time to turn North.  It is time to turn toward Him.
